Damage Compensation

At Tankobonbon, we strive to ensure that you receive your ordered books in pristine condition. However, unforeseen circumstances may lead to damages during transit or warehousing. We understand the disappointment that can come with receiving a damaged book, hence, we strive to provide a fair and transparent compensation policy to address such situations. Please take note of the following guidelines:

Minor Damages:

  • Definition: Minor damages include spine or cover chips, dents, tears, or other issues that do not render the book unreadable.
  • Compensation: Tankobonbon offers monetary compensation ranging from 1-5+% of the book's value, depending on the severity of the damage. The customer will be asked for refund details, or the refund amount may carry over for unpaid balances, or internally note it as a usable discount for future purchases. Photos will be provided upon arrival or during the Dispatch procedure to inform the customer. Once arrived on the customer's end, these books are not returnable, replaceable, nor refundable since the customer confirmed its condition when they "Proceed" with the photos provided during Dispatch.

Major Damages:

  • Definition: Major damages encompass printer issues such as wrong cover, missing pages, misprints, upside-down covers, or unreadable issues.
  • Resolution: Customers can initiate a return request for major damages. However, take note that this depends on stock availability.
    • If a better copy is on hand, immediate return and replacement will be initiated. Tankobonbon covers all associated fees.
    • If backordering is required, the return and replacement will proceed once the new copy is secured. We will inform the supplier about the issue and check for the availability of correct copies from the same batch. Tankobonbon covers all associated fees.

Unavailability of Stock (Backordering):

  • Definition: Occasions may arise where the damaged book for replacement is out of stock both at Tankobonbon and the supplier, necessitating backordering.
  • Resolution: Tankobonbon will initiate a return and replacement once the backordered copy is secured or if backordering is not feasible, Tankobonbon offers a full refund for the book, and the decision to return the damaged copy is at Tankobonbon's discretion.

Damages From the Local Courier

  • All shipments, irrespective of size, have a default maximum courier insurance of ₱500.00, as outlined in our shipping guidelines. Customers have the option to request full coverage by paying a 1% product value insurance fee, directly allocated to the courier.
  • We can report damages to the courier, provided the customer submits photographic or video evidence before, during, and after opening the parcel. Upon receiving the courier's insurance coverage, the full amount is promptly forwarded to the buyer.
  • The customer will also be asked by Tankobonbon if they prefer to change their default courier for smoother shipping process going forward.

Lost and Untrackable Parcels:

  • In the unfortunate event of a parcel becoming lost and untrackable despite correct shipping information, we will report the issue to the courier. The insured coverage will be utilized to purchase another copy for the customer. While this amount may not always cover the overall parcel value, Tankobonbon will cover the remaining cost to ensure the buyer receives their order, although this may lead to a longer waiting period.
    • Stock availability is a factor, and if certain books need to be backordered, they will be held upon arrival and shipped with future orders or shipped free of charge. All associated fees in these scenarios will be covered by Tankobonbon.
    • In rare cases where a book is impossible to backorder, a full refund for that specific book will be issued.

Incorrect Book Shipped:

  • Upon investigation and it was indeed shipped incorrectly, a return and replacement will be issued and all associated fees will be shouldered by Tankobonbon. Should the return process becomes inconvenient for the customer's end (in the case where a rider is unable to pickup the item), only a replacement will be issued, unless the customer is fine keeping the incorrect book with no replacement.
