Jin, a young man living in a small Japanese town, finds himself united with Gao, a soldier of the British Empire who was driven from his home by Catherine, Night of Typhoons. One day, when the tiny Split-Plit grows to monstrous size and runs amok, Gao is forced to choose between his military's policy of exterminating the Nights and the Japanese desire to coexist with them.
