College student Akio Kobayashi prefers plants to people, while dormmate Umi Oohashi has grown used to relationships that never develop beyond brief encounters. Umi gradually begins spending more time with the reserved Akio, who lets him closer despite not fully understanding the hurt behind Umi’s casual attitude. Their relationship develops through the difficult work of accepting care when both men have learned very different ways to keep others at a distance.
