In a society where beastlike Luta dominate and ordinary humans are treated as possessions, Ernetis is a Luta who rejects the hierarchy around him. When a human named Jin escapes from the tiger beastman who controls him, Ernetis chooses to help rather than return him. Fleeing together forces the two men to cross boundaries of species and status while building a relationship in a world structured to deny Jin autonomy in the first place.
