After leaving prison, a young man known as Yotaro has one clear goal: become a rakugo storyteller under Yakumo Yurakutei VIII, the master whose performance captivated him while he was incarcerated. Yakumo rarely accepts students but unexpectedly takes Yotaro as an apprentice. The newcomer's raw charisma draws him into the history of Yakumo’s generation, where artistic inheritance, rivalry, love, and loss are bound to the survival of a traditional storytelling art.
