Fran is a sheriff whose work requires long journeys across a harsh Western frontier. After losing his horse in the desert, he becomes stranded and nearly succumbs to exposure before an Indigenous stranger finds him and offers help. Their encounter develops into a relationship shaped by survival, mistrust, cultural distance, and the question of what each man is willing to risk for someone who began as a complete stranger.
