After a family tragedy leaves Machi responsible for raising two-year-old Kokoa alone, he struggles with money, grief, and parenting he never expected to face by himself. When exhaustion causes him to collapse, former schoolmate Mihiro steps in and offers both Machi and Kokoa a place to stay until they recover. Machi initially distrusts such generosity, but shared domestic life gradually turns an old acquaintance into the support system through which he learns a broader meaning of family.
