Roman bath architect Lucius struggles to satisfy clients who consider his designs old-fashioned until a strange accident in a public bath transports him more than fifteen centuries into the future. Emerging in modern Japan, he encounters bathing technology and customs unlike anything in ancient Rome. Each return home gives Lucius new ideas to adapt for Roman bathhouses, turning accidental time travel into an architectural exchange between two cultures equally serious about bathing.
