Ten elite space-cadet candidates from different worlds board a decommissioned starship for their final survival examination. Once sealed inside, they discover eleven people are present—and no one can identify which person was not supposed to be there. The mystery becomes more urgent when the ship itself develops serious problems, forcing the candidates to cooperate with people they increasingly suspect while determining whether the extra member is an accident, an enemy, or part of the test.
