Mamoru Yamaemori tends his family shrine in the mountains while secretly fighting tengu that prey on humans. A ritual involving tengu blood has bound him to this dangerous role and threatens to turn the power he uses against monsters back on himself. Mamoru accepts the burden largely to keep his two younger brothers from inheriting it, making every battle a struggle between protecting his family and becoming more like the creatures he hunts.
