In a northern land where wolf packs are organized around territorial chiefs, Garm becomes guardian to Hati, the leader of the lake territory. Both are proud and strong-willed, and their different temperaments initially make cooperation difficult. Living and working together gradually turns mutual respect into a singular bond between two leaders who begin understanding one another through the responsibilities each carries for his pack.
