Former house cat Nanao now survives on the streets of Tokyo with help from fellow stray Machi. When a brother and sister who run a neighborhood bathhouse begin feeding the local cats, Nanao cautiously forms a bond with them and discovers that the humans carrying food have wounds and loneliness of their own.
