In the second installment of the acclaimed manhwa romantic dramedy series, Arisa and Jun grow closer, make intriguing new acquaintances, and discover the enticing wonders of Gyeongseong, the vibrant capital city of South Korea in the 1930s.
In Gyeongseong, Arisa and Jun’s story is heating up ― literally, as the city is experiencing a sweltering heat wave! While some refreshing bingsu (Korean shaved ice) cools things down, the fiery connection between the city girl and the country boy continues to blaze.
The second volume of Lovers of the Empire teases out Arisa and Jun’s budding relationship, and enriches their story by introducing several new captivating characters. Meet Kim Hwajeong: beautiful, smart, and sweet ― but mysteriously expelled from school. The cocky Cheolsu takes Jun to the Willow Tree, a Japanese teahouse with a tantalizing twist that will make our country boy blush. And Arisa makes fast friends with the spitfire Mari Bak, a girl from the countryside just like Jun, but who is far bolder than he could ever be.
Yet, a chance encounter threatens to dash all of these delightful escapades. Handed a secret note with a call to action, Jun has a choice to make that could forever change his fate in the capital.
In Lovers of the Empire, Yudori conjures a coming-of-age love story, in a lush period setting ― with two winsome characters at its heart.
