College student Kyou Izakura is attacked by a demon after work and rescued by exorcist Shin Goudo, who discovers that Kyou has the unusual ability to absorb spirits into his own body. Releasing them requires Shin’s close assistance through an intimate ritual neither man can treat as purely professional. Fighting supernatural threats together gradually binds exorcist and reluctant vessel in both survival and a complicated relationship.
