Fourth-grader Aoyama carefully studies the world around him and records his observations like a young scientist. His orderly explanations fail when penguins suddenly begin appearing in his inland town, and he becomes convinced the phenomenon is connected to a mysterious woman who works at his dentist’s office. Investigating the impossible penguins turns summer into a research project about forces much stranger than anything in Aoyama’s notebooks.
