Twenty-seven-year-old film director Zhang Yuwen has wealth and professional success but dreams of becoming a serious novelist. When an editor dismisses his manuscript because its characters feel artificial, the reclusive writer decides he needs more real social experience. He rents the spare rooms in his large Riverbay Road house to several other single gay men, turning an attempted writing exercise into a chaotic shared home full of personalities he cannot observe from a safe distance.
