Writer Chiharu Izunome returns reluctantly to his rural hometown hoping a change of scenery will help him work. Instead, an old local promise binds him to Rin, a water-dragon god who insists Chiharu is his betrothed. Chiharu resists a marriage he never chose, but living under Rin’s protection forces him to learn what the god expects from their bond and whether obligation can ever become genuine affection on equal terms.
