Agredios returns from a long hunt to find his home village devastated and blames the witch living in the nearby forbidden woods. He sets out intending revenge, but confronting the supposed enemy reveals that rumors and reality do not match as neatly as he expected. The knight and witch become tied to the mystery of what happened to the village and to a struggle for survival that requires discovering the true source of the disaster rather than simply killing the person everyone fears.
