Yozo Oba grows up unable to show others what he actually thinks or feels and learns to protect himself with a performance of easy humor. Beneath that façade lie trauma, illness, isolation, and an increasing inability to connect honestly with the people around him. The story follows Yozo from adolescence into adulthood as the persona he created for survival becomes harder to separate from the life collapsing underneath it.
