Exhausted and undervalued at work, Inukai finds an unexpected source of comfort in a pet shop clerk named Hoshi and the dogs around him. The encounter inspires Inukai to quit his exploitative job and build a life that might finally include a pet of his own. Then Hoshi claims to remember a past life as a dog Inukai once helped, turning a gentle new friendship into a strange connection that may have begun years before they met as adults.
