Shino Oshima begins high school hoping for a fresh start but freezes during her first classroom introduction and cannot even say her own name. A speech difficulty makes spontaneous conversation painfully hard, leaving her isolated and afraid of being judged whenever words fail. Music and unexpected friendships give Shino another way to express herself and gradually build the confidence to connect without treating fluent speech as the only kind of voice that matters.
