High schooler Yaneko loves sleeping and has difficulty waking on her own until she is roused by Nerimu, a mysterious spirit whose work is to bring sleep to humans and animals. Nerimu recruits Yaneko to accompany him as he carries out that strange duty. Their travels gradually turn her ordinary love of sleep into a supernatural job while raising questions about why Nerimu chose her in the first place.
